Our Church

Christ Community Church began as a home Bible study in 1986. Sunday worship services began in April 1988. The vision of CCC at its inception was to establish a foundation of small groups, contemporary worship, and relevant, expository Biblical teaching.

Christ Community Church is a multigenerational, elder-led church whose mission is to honor God by loving people as Jesus loves them.

The church body, averaging between 120 to 140 attendees each week, is active and committed both in serving and supporting financially. Sunday mornings include contemporary worship and teaching for children and adults. During the week, there are multiple prayer opportunities and small groups that meet to study the Bible, support one another and serve together. The eight-acre campus includes a modern well-maintained sanctuary and classrooms to accommodate a thriving, growing children’s ministry. The additional activity building includes space for church offices, a recently renovated kitchen, and space for adult Sunday school classes and church-wide gatherings.

Christ Community Church is located near the shores of Lake Erie in the historic village of Fredonia, N.Y., approximately halfway between Buffalo, New York, and Erie, Pennsylvania. The Chamber of Commerce describes it as “the best of both worlds,” offering both the charms of small-town life and the conveniences of bigger cities only 45 minutes away.

Our Vision

The vision and goals of CCC have endured since its founding, and have been renewed and expanded in recent years. Most of our founding members, now in their 60s, are still actively involved, but the leadership of the church, with the enthusiastic support of the initial core group, has been largely turned over to a new, younger generation. CCC is committed to reaching the community in which it is situated, and bringing the gospel and its healing and transformative power to the problems faced by much of rural and small-town America, including substance abuse; the continuing decline of the traditional two-parent family; and economic stagnation and decline. Opportunities for ministry abound, as shown by the response to the outreach events sponsored by CCC. The recent economic renaissance occurring in Buffalo has begun to have positive effects on northern Chautauqua County as well. CCC is confident that God’s plans for northern Chautauqua County are to prosper it, and not harm it, and to give it a bright hope and future. We are looking for a pastoral leader to help us achieve this vision.

Our Community

For families both young and old, Fredonia is a wonderful place to call home. Low housing costs make it an affordable place to purchase a home. US News and World Report rated Fredonia's school district 180th out of 1,200 New York schools. The student to teacher ratio is 14 to 1. The community boasts a vibrant children’s library program, multiple parks and playgrounds, and an indoor winter recreation area, as well as enrichment opportunities in music, arts, and sports. Chautauqua County features great natural beauty and much of its economy is based upon tourism, especially during the summer months.

With a population of approximately 11,000, the village, which includes a State University of New York campus, provides many opportunities to enjoy arts and entertainment. The downtown area consists of a variety of locally-owned businesses and restaurants and the historic Fredonia Opera House, which shows both recent commercial as well as independent films, plays, and operas. Each year, it is home to a Bach and Beyond Baroque Music Festival. The SUNY Fredonia campus also offers a series of lectures, concerts, and theater opportunities appealing to a variety of tastes and interests. Summertime brings multiple festivals that fill our streets with music, art, crafts, and local produce. The annual Chautauqua County Fair draws people from the surrounding area with its agricultural offerings, midway and grandstand shows.

Fredonia is surrounded by natural beauty and agricultural abundance.

Nestled in the “oldest and largest Concord grape-growing region in the world,” Fredonia and the nearby area are dotted with farms and vineyards which support farm stands, pick-your-own fruit locations, and a vibrant, year-round Farmers’ Market. Within a five-minute drive, one can be on the shores of Lake Erie, fishing off the pier, or watching the sunset while combing the beach for sea glass at the lovely Point Gratiot. There are also many beautiful places to hike, cross-country ski, fish, hunt, bike, run, and enjoy water sports. Also close by are the New York Amish Trail, Chautauqua Lake, and the nationally renowned Chautauqua Institution, which "comes alive each summer with a unique mix of fine and performing arts, lectures, interfaith worship and programs, and recreational activities.”
